Batch OCR
Readiris offers batch OCR: you execute the recognition on all prescanned images in a specific folder.
You can scan by day and read by night... Acquire all documents to be recognized; when you’re done, run the batch OCR and leave your PC to it. When you return the next day, all documents have been recognized!

Watched Folders
Readiris supports a watched folder: you execute the recognition on all image files that get dropped in the “watched” folder. Acquire new documents each day and they will be recognized promptly.

Document separation options
Readiris processes document batches intelligently use bar codes to automatically index and name the documents.

Advanced PDF output control
With the advanced control over the Adobe Acrobat PDF output: you can influence the file size directly by determining the color mode and image resolution. Readiris Corporate also supports JPEG 2000 compression for all images stored inside PDF files.

Multipage document support
The Corporate Edition has no limit in the size of multipage documents you need to process. Be it 5 or 200 pages, Readiris will process the documents at record speed saving you hours of retyping work.

Language support
Readiris activates secondary languages alongside the “main” language. You can read documents that mix several languages and alphabets! Recognize up to 5 languages on the same page and assign one language to each page of a multi page document

You can also “boost” the OCR accuracy further by loading user lexicons that reflect your company’s activity.

Business card recognition

Learning Fonts
If Readiris is unsure about a reading result, the doubtful character (or character string) is displayed with its parent word and the proposed solution is presented if you agree with or correct the proposed solution. Page Deskewing
The command "Deskew Page" straightens pages which were scanned at an angle for optimised OCR recognition accuracy.

Equipped with the I.R.I.S. ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) engine, Readiris Pro reads formatted handprinted capital letters, figures or symbols. Scan documents containing formatted manual notes and they will be promptly recognized.

What is handprinting and what is handwriting?
With handprinting, the "block letters" are separated and the recognition software has an easier job to isolate the individual characters.

Handwriting is used to describe continuous, "cursive" handwritten text, the symbols within a word or character string touch, it is impossible to say where one symbol ends and another starts.

Document layout
Intelligent Page Analysis      Improved
Readiris Pro automatically identifies the texts, tables and graphics on the scanned document and perfectly reproduces them in the output file. It's even possible to choose your preferred paper format (A4, Letter, etc.).

Text formatting
When processing a document you can select how you want the recognition result to show in your new document:
- "Create Body Text": you get a continuous, running text. All formatting, if any, is done afterwards by the user.
- "Retain Word and Paragraph": the font type (serif - sans serif, proportional - fixed, normal - condensed), size and typestyle (bold - italic - underlined - superscript - subscript) are maintained across the recognition, tabs and the alignment of each block are recreated and tables are recaptured correctly.
- "Recreate Source Document" recreates a facsimile copy of the original document with text blocks, tables, graphics, bulleted and number lists recreated in the same place and the word and paragraph formatting maintained across the recognition. You get a true copy of your source document, be it a compact and editable text file, no longer a scanned image of your document.

Table recognition
Readiris outputs tabular data to spreadsheets and word processors: tables get reconstructed cell by cell in worksheets and inserted as table objects in word processor files.

Recognized alphabets
Readiris recognizes all American and European character sets, including the Baltic, Central-European, Greek and Cyrillic ("Russian") alphabets. Optionally, you can read Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean.

Recognized fonts
Readiris reads fonts with a size range of 6 to 72 points <Point.htm> and copes with drop letters.
Readiris reads virtually any printing quality: typeset, typewritten, laser printed, inkjet printed, letter quality dot matrix printed texts and draft dot matrix printing. Handprinted fonts are also recognized

Output modes
Select an output mode: save the results to an external file (with a document format supported by your text application), place the results in the Windows clipboard or send the recognized document to a target application.
- "Open after Saving" opens the recognized document once it's saved. (The Windows file types determine which application will be started up.)
- "Send by E-mail" creates a new mail message and inserts the recognized document as mail attachment!
- "Create One File per Page" sees to it that each page of a multipage document is saved in a separate file. If the user gives the file name text.doc, the files will be called text-1.doc, text-2.doc etc.
- "Create One File per Document" saves separated documents, not complete batches (Readiris Corporate).
